abstract

in the present work, graphene was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (cvd) method. the structure of graphene was then confirmed by x-ray diffraction (xrd) and scanning electron microscope (tem) images. after that, mixed acid method (h2so4/hno3) was used to make the structure of synthesized graphenehydrophilic. in this method, carboxylate and hydroxide groups were linked to the edges of graphenenano sheets. the hydrophilic graphene was added to ethylene glycol (eg) with the concentrations of 0.100, 0.125, and 0.150 wt%, and the mixtures were sonicated at 60°c for 3hours to prepare the ethylene glycol/ graphenenano fluid. the thermal conductivity of samples was measured by kd2, while thermophysical properties of were estimated by valid theoretical equations. then heat transfer coefficient of the samples was measured by using a straight pipe under constant heat flux and a turbulent flow regime. according to the obtained results, thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient increased by 21.2% and 42.4%, respectively, only by the addition of 0.15wt % of graphene in to ethylene glycol. also thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient were improved by increasing the temperature and concentration of graphene.

Investigation of Heat Transfer Coefficient Enhancement for CuO/TiO2 Nanocomposite in a Tube Heat Exchanger

In order to improve the efficiency and rate of heat transfer in heat exchangers, various techniques such as increasing the heat transfer coefficient are proposed. This study is devoted to the investigation of heat transfer coefficient variations due to the addition of CuO, TiO2 and CuO/TiO2 nanoparticles into a shell and tube heat exchanger. CuO/TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized using mechanic...

Experimental measurement of heat transfer coefficient and mass of deposited CaSO4 in subcooled flow boiling condition

Fouling is a common, fundamental and costly problem in heat transfer systems, which reduces thermal efficiency of equipment, increases the energy loss and causes strong damage to the heat transfer equipment in various industries. The main causes of fouling on the heat transfer surfaces are salts with inverse temperature-solubility in the fluid which calcium sulfate is one of the most important ...

Heat Transfer in the Transitional Flow Regime

Transitional flow, whereby the motion of a fluid changes from laminar to turbulent flow, was successfully identified by Reynolds (1883) almost 130 years ago. According to ASHRAE (2009), for a round pipe, in general, laminar flow exists when the Reynolds number is less than 2 300. Fully turbulent flow exists when the Reynolds number is larger than 10 000 and transitional flow exists for Reynolds...
